About

me in my office

Hello, my name is Harry Potter

This website serves as an archive of my journey within my homelab, documenting the various skills and knowledge I’ve gained along the way.

Currently, I am an Enterprise Audio Visual Specialist. Prior to this role, I worked as an IT Technician. In my earlier position, I was tasked with building and configuring a server for the company. The server initially functioned as an SMB share, enabling graphic designers to easily share their work with one another, as well as facilitating file transfers to printers and managers for approval. Prior to this, the team relied on email and Google Drive for file sharing, which became increasingly costly as the company grew. By introducing the server, I was able to help the company reduce these expenses. Over time, I expanded the server’s capabilities, hosting the company website via WordPress and developing a database system to streamline customer order management. This experience greatly expanded my knowledge and sparked a deep interest in database management, operating systems, and system administration.

I then completed a Bachelors degree in Information Technology with a concentration in enterprise systems.

In my current role, I am primarily focused on AV systems, but I continue to engage with remote management software and collaborate closely with the desktop engineering department to deepen my understanding of their systems. My ultimate goal is to leverage the knowledge I gain through my homelab to pursue a career in the fields I am most passionate about.

While this homelab serves as both a learning platform and a functional system for automation at home, it is also an essential step toward securing a role in the areas I truly enjoy. I have already implemented a variety of applications on my server and am working on documenting my progress through blog posts. This website is just the beginning, and I look forward to sharing my journey with others.
